Scott Pelley to succeed Katie Couric as 'CBS Evening News' anchor Posted: The newsman will remain a '60 Minutes' correspondent while taking on his new role on the last-place network newscast. He begins June 6. After luring Katie Couric away from NBC's "Today" show in an attempt to revamp the evening news with star power and broad appeal, CBS News has made a more traditional choice in tapping "60 Minutes" correspondent Scott Pelley to succeed Couric. He will take up the anchor role on "CBS Evening News" starting June 6, the network announced on Tuesday. |
What's playing at the Los Angeles Film Festival? Posted: Look for a variety of sports movies, plus L.A.-centric pictures and a selection of Sundance titles. And stay tuned — organizers will announce the biggies later this month. The Los Angeles Film Festival has a reputation for appealing to both the average popcorn-chomping moviegoer as well as the high-brow cinĂ©aste . Take last year, when the festival hosted the premiere of the latest "Twilight" film within days of screening a retrospective of work by little-known Argentinean director Leopoldo Torre Nilsson. |
