Exhibit shows little-known life of Marilyn Monroe on Catalina Island Posted: Back then she was Norma Jeane Baker, a teenager in an unhappy marriage. Photos and letters from her time on the island, as well as a separate exhibit on the Beatles and Eric Clapton, mark a new direction for the museum. Desperate to avoid being shunted to yet another foster home, 16-year-old Norma Jeane Baker in 1942 married 21-year-old James Dougherty, a neighbor's son whom she had been dating for several months. |
