State of the Union: Obama delivers a 'let's get to work' speech Posted: 25 Jan 2011 10:13 PM PST The president eschews the big-moment approach as the possibility of civility and bipartisanship in the wake of the Tucson shootings leads to a quieter, more professional State of the Union. The excitement with which journalists and political pundits anticipated Tuesday's State of the Union address was so unexpectedly poignant it was almost painful to watch. In the days and hours leading up to the speech, conversation and speculation in the media focused less on what the president might say as to whom he was going to say it. Or at least where they would be sitting. |
