Deadmau5 promises more than just music at Coachella Posted: 16 Apr 2010 12:00 AM PDT The music maker from Niagara Falls, N.Y., is toting an elaborate set for the desert festival. The images were grainy, the lines obscured — as if they were photos taken by a surveillance camera. The backdrop appeared to be a giant boombox, but maybe it was just speakers on scaffolding. Lights added halo glares but didn't illuminate. A V-shaped podium sat center stage. |
‘Death’s’ humor takes a holiday Posted: 16 Apr 2010 12:00 AM PDT Chris Rock seems miscast and director Neil LaBute never finds the proper tone in the multicultural comedy. Director Neil LaBute's new comedy, "Death at a Funeral," which stars a posse of comics headed by Chris Rock, is the movie version of karaoke. It sings the same tune as the 2007 British underground hit, but it's a little, and at times a lot, off-key. |
